CHAPTER 01
Your first session
Mirage brings guided practice, recorded sensor readings and session history together on your phone. The six sessions are Health Scan, Puzzle Game, Counting Backwards, Physical Assessment, Breathing Exercise and Guided Imagery.
- Open Mirage. The six-second opening film plays once per launch; tap Skip intro to continue immediately.
- Sign in with your registered email and password. Use the membership purchase button if you need a subscription. Guest access lets you browse, but cannot start a session.
- If your hardware order is still pending, review its progress. If it was handed to you locally, use Locally Delivered and validate its MAC address.
- Switch on your issued oximeter, place your finger as directed by its instructions and tap Scan & connect. Wait for connection and current readings.
- Open Sessions, choose an exercise and watch its introduction. Set the available options, then tap Start session.
- Use Pause, Resume or Stop as needed. Review the saved result in My progress.
CHAPTER 02
Sign-in, membership and delivery
Sign in and remember your account
Use the email address registered with Mirage. Select the remember-login option if you want the app to restore your saved login on this phone. Use Forgot password? for a reset link. Use another account returns to account access.
Initial sign-in, purchases, delivery validation and support requests need internet access. Once membership and device details have been saved, a temporary loss of internet does not by itself stop an otherwise permitted session. Bluetooth and fresh sensor readings are still required. Cached access does not extend a membership beyond its saved validity.
One mobile login is active at a time. Signing in on another phone replaces the previous mobile login; the earlier phone is signed out when it next checks with the server. An offline phone cannot receive that update immediately. Your website account portal remains separately accessible.
When your order is pending
The delivery page shows your order checklist and available dates. Expected dates come from the backend schedule and may be revised. You can wait for delivery or confirm a local handover.
- Tap Locally Delivered.
- Enter the MAC printed on the device, not its serial number or a model code on the box. Both 001122AABBDD and 18:45:16:B7:7E:4F are valid formats; use your own device's value. Letters A-F are part of the address.
- Tap Validate & confirm delivery. Wait for the result before retrying.
- On success, the device is linked to your account and the order is marked delivered. The next page is the connection page. Delivery validation controls and further delivery-checklist emails are no longer needed for that order.
A device belonging to another customer cannot be taken over. If the address is not found, compare every character with the device label and contact support. Do not substitute a different device's address.

Connect your issued oximeter
- Charge the oximeter if needed and switch it on. Keep it close to the phone.
- Close iHealth or another app or phone that may already be connected to it.
- Enable Bluetooth. Allow Mirage's Bluetooth access on iPhone and Nearby devices access on Android when requested. Older Android versions may also require location permission and location services for scanning.
- On the connection page tap Scan & connect. The app searches for a compatible device and checks its identity against your issued device.
- Read the fixed status area below the button while searching, connecting and verifying. Follow any error guidance; retry after correcting the cause.
- Wait for connection, then check current readings in Devices before starting a session.
A green connection indicator identifies an active connection. Gray and Pulse Oximeter Disconnected indicate disconnection. Connection alone does not guarantee current measurements: a session also needs fresh pulse and oxygen readings. Perfusion feedback needs a valid perfusion value too.
Battery information appears when the device reports it. If no battery value is available, that does not mean the battery is full or empty. Follow a low-battery message and charge the device before trying again.
If the connection drops during practice, the session stops and recorded progress is saved. Reconnect, wait for fresh readings and start a new session.

The six sessions
1. Health Scan
A 50-question questionnaire with spoken questions. Tap the answer that best matches the time period shown for the symptom. Answering advances to the next question. Use Previous to revisit an answer and Replay audio to hear the question again. The progress counter shows how many questions are answered.
After question 50, the session finishes and saves your responses. If you stop earlier, the responses collected so far remain in that session's history. This questionnaire is for reviewing your own responses; it does not generate a diagnosis.
2. Puzzle Game
Tap two cards to reveal pictures. Matching pairs remain visible; unmatched pictures turn back over. Find all eight pairs among the 16 cards. Choose a duration before starting. The session ends when all pairs are found, time expires or you tap Stop. Sensor readings are recorded during the task.
3. Counting Backwards
Start at 1000 and subtract 13 each time, aloud: 987, 974, 961, 948 and so on. The starting instruction plays when you tap Start session. The 30-second observation begins after that instruction. Continue at your own pace. Mirage records the sensor response; it does not listen to or grade your spoken answers.
4. Physical Assessment
This is a sound-response activity. Read the introduction, choose a comfortable phone volume and keep your sensor hand still. A sound occurs about 10 seconds into the 30-second observation. Remain still for the rest of the observation. Tap Stop if you want to end it.
5. Breathing Exercise
Choose 3, 4 or 5 seconds for each half of the breath and select the duration. Follow the expanding lungs on the inhale and the relaxing lungs on the exhale. The spoken cues use the same timing as the image. There are no breath holds. Pause holds both the timer and the guidance; Resume continues them.
Use a comfortable pace and avoid forcing your breath. The image is a pacing guide, not a measurement of lung movement or a sensor target.
6. Guided Imagery
Browse the scene cards and choose an image or film. Read its description before starting. The library includes Butterfly Landing and other animated feedback scenes, plus Cosmic Ocean, Relaxing Forest, River of Stars, Spiral Galaxy and Violet & Teal Nebula.
- Animated feedback scenes: choose the available reading and target. The scene changes with the selected reading. A missing selected value prevents feedback from continuing.
- Relaxation films: play as moving scenery at their own pace. They have no sensor-controlled target; the session still records your live readings. Films loop when the selected session lasts longer than the clip.
- Butterfly Landing: opens the detailed butterfly session described in the next section.
CHAPTER 06
Butterfly feedback and settings
Butterfly Landing uses ten feedback stages. The butterfly moves closer to the flower and the flower opens as the chosen reading approaches the configured goal. Use the Monitor, Settings, Media and Review panels to prepare, run and review it.
- Feedback signal
- Choose pulse rate (bpm), SpO₂ (%) or perfusion index (%). The selected reading must be available from the connected oximeter.
- Duration
- Sets how long the session runs. Review the value before Start session.
- Goal and approach
- The target value and whether you approach it from above or below. Use values suitable for your intended feedback practice; a target is not a medical threshold.
- Step size and base
- Step size sets the change in the reading between feedback stages. Base is calculated from goal, approach and ten steps.
- AutoGoal
- When enabled, the goal changes after the criterion is held for consecutive seconds. The change field controls how far it changes. Use a fixed goal when you do not want this adjustment.
- Graph scales
- Control the visible range of the graph. Changing a scale changes its display, not the measurements.
- Media
- Select the available instruction, relaxation and music options. Review sound volume before starting.
- Recording and Review
- Review recording options before starting. Review provides the records and export controls available for this session.
Setup-file and program-step controls, where shown, let you save or load settings and run a sequence. Review every imported step before running it. They do not create new sensor capabilities. Legacy labels such as EMG, temperature or EDG do not turn a pulse oximeter into those sensors.

Readings and your progress
SpO₂ is the device's oxygen-saturation estimate, pulse is beats per minute and perfusion index (PI) is the device-reported perfusion percentage. Mirage displays the measurements supplied by the device; it does not infer PI from pulse or oxygen. An unavailable value remains unavailable.
Open My progress in Sessions or the Session history shortcut on Home. Choose a saved session to see its date, outcome, duration and available readings. Health Scan records also include the responses collected during that session.
History is saved on this phone for the signed-in account. It is not automatically synchronized with another phone or a desktop patient database. Removing app data or uninstalling may remove local records. Use an available export option before deleting data you need.
Manage saved history → Delete progress history asks for confirmation. Delete only when you no longer need those local records. Butterfly Review can also expose its own recorded readings and export controls.

Fullscreen and TV / external display
Tap Full screen on a supported visual or video to enlarge it. Tap Exit full screen to return. Images retain their proportions, so empty space around a portrait or landscape picture is normal. Session Start/Pause and Stop controls remain available for the session view.
iPhone / iPad
Use TV / external display to open the display guide and AirPlay route control. For the complete app view, open Control Center and choose Screen Mirroring with a compatible display. Connect the phone and wireless display to the same Wi-Fi. A compatible wired display adapter is another option.
Android
TV / display opens the phone's casting settings where available. Depending on the phone and display, use Cast, Smart View or Google Home screen mirroring. A supported wired display adapter may also work. Availability depends on the phone and receiver; the app does not make every TV compatible.
Set up the external display before starting a live session. Opening another app or leaving Mirage in the background stops an active session. Return to Mirage and check whether to Resume or start a new session. Keep the phone near the oximeter; mirroring does not move the Bluetooth connection to the TV.

Optional Wi-Fi plug
The Wi-Fi plug panel in Devices is optional. It is separate from the Pulse Oximeter and is not needed for the six main exercises.
- Choose a supported model shown in the app, such as Tapo P100 or Kasa HS100.
- Connect the phone and plug to the same local Wi-Fi. Enter the plug's current local IP address and any credentials requested by that model.
- For Tapo P100, enable Third-Party Compatibility in the Tapo app where required. On iPhone, allow Local Network access.
- Test the manual On/Off controls with a lamp before enabling session control.
Open Devices → My Wi-Fi plugs and select Add plug for each additional device. Give each plug a name, enter its own IP and connection details, then connect and test it. Enable Allow Session to control this plug on each plug you want to use. Enabled plugs turn On when a session starts and Off when it completes or stops; Pause leaves them On. Use Rename or edit the name to identify each plug, and Remove to delete its saved connection. Check the plug after a network error or after leaving the app; background control is not guaranteed.

Troubleshooting
- No oximeter found
- Switch it on, keep it nearby and awake, enable Bluetooth and check permissions. Close other apps or phones connected to it. Retry after making those changes.
- Device does not match your assignment
- Compare the MAC on your device with the issued-device record. Colon-separated and compact formats refer to the same address. Do not try to claim another customer's device. Send support an error report after the failed attempt.
- Connecting or verifying fails
- Read the status below Scan & connect. Charge the device if needed, close other Bluetooth clients and try once more. If it repeats, submit a fresh error report so support receives the latest connection log.
- Connected, but Start cannot begin
- Check active membership and fresh pulse/oxygen readings. Keep your finger in place and hand still. If using perfusion feedback, a current PI value is also required. A connection indicator alone is not enough.
- Session stops unexpectedly
- Check whether readings stopped, the oximeter disconnected or Mirage left the foreground. Reconnect and start a new session when readings are current. Check My progress for the stopped record.
- No audio
- Check phone media volume, speaker/headphone output and the selected external display. Use Replay where offered. Breathing cues begin when the exercise starts.
- Local delivery not found
- Use the device's MAC rather than its serial number. Compare all 12 hexadecimal characters. If the label and inventory disagree, ask support to correct the record; repeated retries cannot correct inventory.
- Support or membership request fails
- Check internet access. Existing cached membership can support offline practice, but new sign-in, delivery changes and ticket messages need a successful server request.
For a repeated problem, note the phone, app version/build, steps taken and the exact message. Open Help → Share Error Report after reproducing the problem.
Back to contentsCHAPTER 11
Contact support and manage tickets
- Open Contact support & my tickets from Help or the connection page.
- Create a ticket. Enter a clear subject and describe what you expected, what happened and the error shown.
- Submit it while online. Phone/app information, assigned device details and connection diagnostics help support investigate.
- Open the ticket again to read replies, see its current status and add information.
- If the request is no longer needed, tap Cancel ticket and confirm only if you want to cancel it.
Share Error Report prepares a support report with the latest diagnostic information. Review the description and submit it to the support system. Simply opening the report does not send it.
Customer-visible staff replies and ticket status updates trigger an update email to your account address. You can also see the conversation in the app. Private staff notes are not displayed in your ticket.

About this mobile guide
This guide describes the prepared Android and iOS 0.1.35 interface. Your installed build number is shown in the app's version information. Screen wording can differ slightly between phones.
The original user's guide for The Mirage™ Systems Biofeedback Interface informed the explanations of Health Scan, counting, the picture-pair task, the sound-response activity and butterfly feedback. This guide uses the current mobile controls and sensor flow. Original desktop patient management, serial-port hardware, scan-site editing and X-10 instructions are not mobile procedures.
Keep the oximeter's own instructions for its charging, placement and care requirements. This manual explains Mirage's app controls.
